EMO...Not a poem(by gina durst)
Here is how the “normal people” (everyone who hates emo) views the emo: Emos are just depressed people who go around and wear black and cut themselves. They have no life and are so mad at the world. They probably want to blow our school up. They don’t have any reason to be depressed and aren’t cool. Emos are lame and i won’t have anything to do with them because they are scary and are going to hell. Most of them are gay lez or bi, so whatever.
That is NOT what emo is.
What emo means to me: Being emo does not mean you cut yourself. While many emos cut themselves, some have a reason and some DO NOT have any reason. Those people who cut themselves for a reason do it because they need to feel the pain, the rush of excitment watching the crimson ribbon from their pearly smooth skin. Now, the people who do not need to cut, do it to seem cool with the emos. They are NOT emo, they are posers. Being emo is deaper than cutting yourself, and you do not need to cut yourself to be emo. Emo is emotional, which means you feel life. Sensitive, being in touch with your sensitive side, everyone has one, writing what your heart is screaming. letting your blood and soul become ink and paper. The portal to your mind. Your darkest, most frightening or your most wistful and hopeful begingings. What ever you are, you express it. Emo express it through dark or unusual, through music, poems, songs, drawing, whatever. and while, some are gay or bi or lez, then who [censored] cares, i believe that when you find someone who your soul connects with, or who you felel you belong with, gender and social taboo shall not stand in the way and restrict you. Who cares what they say. no one needs to judge us and if they do, we don’t care, no one needs to tell us we are uncool, or gay or anything like that. If being how we are is “Uncool” then we don’t want to be “Cool”. i look at the cool people and laugh. their life is so fake, they are constantly worried about following the [censored] style and so concerned with who is voting for them 4 homcoming, or who is best dressed. I don’t want to live a fake life, i want to a natural, and free life, i don’t want to be bounded to the lastest craze i don’t want to be another [censored] clone, no one tells me how to express. No one tells emos what to wear or want trends to follow. when we wake up and put on some [censored] clothes, then we start a new trend for that [censored] day. we don’t follow, we just go and if others follow, whatever, and if others don’t follow, whatever. it’s all about following your heart, and eventually, you will find your tru self.
